Celebrating Last Month's Milestones & Gearing Up for What's Ahead!

✨ Congratulations ✨

Congratulations to Tim Carrison on achieving his First Solo flight!

The dedication and commitment Tim has shown by traveling long distances to reach this milestone is truly impressive.

We are excited to see his continued progress in aviation and look forward to supporting him on his journey!

After a long and impressive career flying more types of aircraft than most of us have seen, Neville Dickson has joined us to complete his Ra-Aus conversion. It’s been a real pleasure to have him with us, and we’ve had a lot of fun getting him back in the sky after a few years' break.

Welcome and congratulations Neville we look forward to seeing more of you in the air!

Let's also give a huge round of applause to Chris Raftery for achieving his Instructor Rating!

This milestone is a testament to his hard work, commitment, and passion for aviation.

We look forward to seeing Chris share his knowledge and inspire the next generation of pilots.

Congratulations Chris!

Stay SunSmart and Fly Safe

As the heat increases, it's important to stay sun and heat smart while flying. The dry cabin air at altitude can cause water to evaporate from your skin and lungs, leading to dehydration. This can affect your coordination and cognitive abilities. If you're feeling thirsty, it's likely you've been dehydrated for some time. To protect yourself from the sun, remember to wear a hat and sunglasses to reduce sun exposure and glare. Sunscreen is a must, nobody likes coming home looking like a tomato!

The Flying Club has sunscreen available under the headsets mounted on the wall for everyone to use. We also offer sunglasses with slim arms for use with headsets, and we’re getting more hats in soon. So, as they say, Slip, Slop, Slap! Stay hydrated and protected for a happy and safe flying experience!

BFC 2024 Christmas🎄

Join us in the festive spirit on Friday, December 6th, as Bendigo Flying Club hosts a Christmas themed Friday Night!

This year, we're adding a special twist to our gathering. We invite everyone to bring a small gift valued at $10 or less to place under the tree. At the end of the night, everyone will have the chance to pick a present from under the tree to keep, a delightful way to add some fun to the evening!

Come along, enjoy good company, good food, and let's make this holiday celebration memorable together!

Roulettes Stunning Display!

On the 14th of November, Bendigo was treated to an exciting visit from the RAAF Roulettes display team. After an impressive performance over Huntly and Epsom, they made a stop at Bendigo Airport to refuel and meet the locals. The pilots and their incredible PC-21 aircraft truly amazed everyone present.

Check out the action and experience the thrill:

It was a fantastic opportunity to witness these skilled aviators up close, and we’re proud to have hosted them in Bendigo.

HEM's Tour - Interested?

We’re considering organising a tour of the HEMS 3 hangar, where you'll have the chance to meet the dedicated team and get an up-close look at the impressive twin-engine AgustaWestland AW139.

If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, please let us know! We’d love to make this happen for everyone.

Trivia!

"When is checking weather and NOTAMs required?"

Last Month Answer:

According to CASR 91.395 aircraft established in a circuit pattern have the right of way over aircraft on a straight-in approach, this includes those on an instrument approach. All pilots are responsible for maintaining safe separation however, IFR traffic does not have a right of way over traffic in a circuit.
